As you know, Sun is a member of the CIO Executive Board, and we found the competency diagnostic framework and benchmark results a useful tool for our own assessment and continuous improvement activities.

As a benchmark of nearly 200 member organizations and more than 800 individuals, this is a very representative study. Briefly, would you please describe for our readers the key areas that you found to be critical to IT competency?

Kristin: Bill, thanks, and it's a pleasure to join you. Through hundreds of conversations with IT leaders at our membership organizations, the CIO Executive Board identified 25 "key competencies" — attributes of IT process and service delivery integral to the success of achieving IT functional goals within what we would consider a world-class organization.
