Computer Professionals Program - Master of Science in Computer Science
Two new state-of-the art computer labs have been installed in the McLaughlin Building, home of the University's School of Computer Science and Mathematics, and the Computer Professionals Program. The labs include over 70 new computers with:
- Intel P-4, 2.8 GHz CPUs
- 1 GB of memory
- new peripherals including DVD-RAM drives
The labs are connected on a 100 MB/sec network. Each computer has a new 17" LCD monitor, which provides a much improved user interface, as well as greater energy savings and lower radiation. These LCDs are brighter than the old CRT monitors they replaced. Their smaller size allows the labs to accommodate more students.
"Our students very much appreciate this upgrade," reports system administrator, Payman Salek, who spearheaded the project. "They are finding the hardware very adequate for their projects." Payman is a graduate of the Computer Professionals Program.
