Sales personnel make money when they're out working with current and prospective customers - not back in the office filling out paperwork. The more time they can spend in the field, the more successful they are likely to be.
So when Allianz Life, Korea's fourth largest life insurer, found that inadequate PC technology was forcing its Allianz Advisors(AAs) to spend more time in the office, it was time for a change. Allianz Life Korea is deploying mobile PCs based on Intel Centrino mobile technology and Microsoft Windows XP to its 11,000 planners. The company expects its technology investment to give the AAs more time with customers and help the company increase the number of policies sold 15 percent by 2007.
Challenge
Insurance Leader Allianz Life is the Korean subsidiary of the Allianz Group, one of the world's largest insurance and financial services providers with 174,000 employees in 70 countries. Allianz Life's regional network stretches across Korea and consists of 4 regional head offices, 39 branch offices, 315 sub-branch offices and 17 Professional Advisor branches. Allianz Life provides life insurance products and services for over 1.5 million policyholders. The company's vision is to
build a reliable, profitable and customercentric life insurance company by delivering excellence in all aspects of its business.
Seeking a More Productive Sales Force
Allianz AAs are responsible for cultivating and managing current and prospective customers. AAs use PCs to help them analyze each customer's needs and select the right products to offer them, as well as to generate and manage a variety of documents and reports when customers purchase an insurance policy.
Without mobile computers, however, the AAs had to write notes as they met with customers, and then use a desktop PC to enter their data into the system when they returned to the office. This was not only timeconsuming, but also kept AAs from responding immediately to customers. When they did meet with customers, they had to carry numerous documents describing the various plans and options. To make things even worse, the number of PCs was limited, and AAs sometimes had to wait their turn to use one.
