Enterprise Case Study: China Construction Bank - Breakthrough Deployment in the Financial Industry

China Construction Bank, Shanxi Division, takes banking into the next era using Intel® processor-based hardware running local version of Linux* operating system.

The heart of any financial institution is its information system. The needs of a financial institution range from powerful data centers to efficient local servers and counter terminals. Each part of the system must deliver high-performance with maximum security. To construct such a high quality information system, the CCB Shanxi Division depends on a range of Intel® processors running a locally developed Linux* operating system.

Challenge

  • The incompatibility with new hardware and applications made existing servers difficult to upgrade. The old system was unable to meet demands for large-scale computation.
  • New applications, designed to provide better services for the customer, demanded front-counter PCs with better performance to support improved graphical user interfaces.
  • The CCB Shanxi Division requires a platform that will enable them to rapidly develop security and operational features unique to the finance industry.
