IBM WebSphere® Application Server-Express, V5.1.1, is now available for download and includes added functionality and fixes.
WebSphere Application Server-Express major enhancements are designed to make Web development faster and developers more productive. This release supports new industry standards that simplify the development of rich Web user interfaces and business logic, as well as high-productivity tools for business-oriented developers who are new to Java. WebSphere Application Server-Express offers an easy and affordable entry point to e-business providing fast and productive development, deployment, and visual management of dynamic Web sites. Based on the latest Java and Web services standards, it features a simplified Web application server, a development environment based on IBM WebSphere Studio, and wizards and samples that can help reduce complexity and deployment costs.
New with WebSphere Application Server-Express:
- Build dynamic Web user interfaces with drag and drop development using standards-based JavaServer Faces (JSF) components. A JSF preview was provided, in Beta form, in WebSphere Application Server - Express. Now production level JSF support is included in WebSphere Application Server—Express
- Visually design and develop rich user interfaces using reusable components with Page Designer.
- Build data-driven Web pages with drag and drop development and point-and-click database connectivity.
- Write business logic and build data-driven Web applications without having to know Java or object-oriented programming concepts using 4GL skills and Enterprise Generation Language (EGL) procedural language.
- Deploy your application on the newly supported Linux PowerPC platform for Red Hat AS/EL and United Linux Operating Systems.
